Our farm in Vrsine
In the neighboring village of Vrsine, about 30 minutes on foot from Poljica, we ran our own small organic farm until a few years ago. We produced our own olive oil, wine, and vegetables there – and our guests could see first-hand how traditional Dalmatian farming works. The farm in that form no longer exists, but our connection to Vrsine is unchanged: we still go there regularly and enjoy showing guests this side of our home.
Come with us to Vrsine
Glad to bring you along. The walk takes you past old stone houses, olive groves, and donkey pastures – a small step away from the sea and into the hilly interior of Central Dalmatia. On the village square, chickens cluck; neighbors sit in the shade of fig trees catching up. Tourists rarely make it here.
Vrsine – known for its small farms
Vrsine has always been a village of small farmsteads. Some families still live there as subsistence farmers today: cold-pressed olive oil, red and white wine, goat and sheep cheese, dried figs, herbs from the surrounding hills. If you’re curious, you can buy directly from the farmers – we’re happy to make the introductions. Between November and December the olive harvest comes in – a good time to see the work up close.
